Originally from South Australia, and a graduate of Flinders University, Chris Meaney earned his PhD at the University of Washington in 1979. Prior to his arrival at Macquarie University in 1991, he held a variety of research and teaching positions in Dunedin, UNSW, Adelaide, Milan, Austin, and ANU. His mathematical interests are a blend of Fourier analysis, special functions, abstract harmonic analysis, and representation theory. His research collaboration with Italian harmonic analysts is into its third decade. When not immersed in his usual working habitat of cluttered books and papers, he might be found watching Aussie Rules football or a hockey match.
