Frances Griffin returned to study at Macquarie University after many years working as a professional musician in Sydney. She graduated with a masters degree, having specialised in number theory and cryptography, investigating the most efficient ways to fill hard disks with pseudorandom numbers. She now has an interest in the use of technology in mathematics education, and one of her projects is the design, development and implementation of the online quiz system used in many mathematics units at Macquarie. Her interests include photography and cycling, and she can be seen on the bike on weekends tacklings the big hills in northern Sydney.
